The last column Peter Gammons wrote for ESPN. →
If you’re not a baseball fan, this is an example of great writing, but might not otherwise be especially interesting. If you are a baseball fan, this is purely gold - one of the very best columns ever written by one of the game’s best modern scribes.  Nothing against other sports, but baseball has always lent itself to great writing more frequently and readily than our other popular...

My 25 Favorite Songs of 2009
I feel like there are a handful of well-regarded albums that came out this year that I haven’t given their due time yet, but I feel pretty good about this list.  I’ll probably do my favorite albums before the calendar flips to 2010, but I don’t know if I’ll order them. All of these include a link to a video, stream, or legal .mp3 (sometimes more than one of the above). ...

My last (and best) exam
Yesterday, I took my last university exam (at least, as an undergraduate).  It was probably the best exam I have ever taken, and certainly the most original. It was a Hebrew Prophets class, taught by Dr. Richard G. Smith.  I had previously taken two classes with him (Biblical Literature 1, an Old Testament survey class, and Old Testament Historical Literature, an upper level elective like Hebrew...

Well I met you...
Last night I tweeted about Matt & Kim’s “Daylight”, calling it one of my favorite songs this year (seriously, list coming shortly after the semester’s done). I was going to write a post this afternoon about by quite vivid memory of moving out of Morris Hall last year, having finished an oft-exhausting year as PA, and, specifically, of loudly playing Bon Iver’s...

WatchWatch
This video is somewhat strange to me - you would expect her to be with her sweetheart in the footage, right?  I never imagine this song being sung over the phone or anything; to me, it’s always Mariah’s reply when her beau says, “What do you want for Christmas?”  Because really, what do you get her for Christmas anyway that she couldn’t buy herself, except maybe...

Professional athletes/grown men, enthusiastically forgetting the words to “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” More of these, please. {via BDL}

"He's tweeting and texting but he never calls." →
maura: The Teenlines blog — “Lines from unwritten teenage love songs” — is one of my favorite Tumblrs. One lyric a day, each one perfectly pitched. Very cool idea here.  Thanks for pointing this out.  Also, I hope that someone, anyone, legitimately gets inspired by teenlines and uses one in a song.

Obligatory post by the student about how Dead Week...
Don’t really have anything to add to the title, except that this week is probably as busy as a typical week for me this semester, it’s just more of a bummer because I wish more than ever that it wasn’t.

flavors.me/Dauthan →
I’m not really sure what to do with this flavors.me page yet.  It’s a free thing in beta testing right now that’s designed to make a personalized homepage simple and pull from other web content to do so. I guess it looks nice, but the extent of its customization settings are basically as follows: pick a layout pick a font pick a background photo integrate your social...
