“Why” - Mario Gonzalez feat. Kinsley Koons (IFC Members)
I wrote this song after my uncle died last November. It was a shocking and very confusing experience for me in which I found myself being only able to ask one question: Why? The song focuses on the pain and deep sense of loss that comes from the death of a loved one. The song by no means addresses this issue subtly but rather confronts it head on by being honest and raw about the deep emotional impact death has on us. At the same time, the song concludes with a hopeful picture of life after death and the reconciliation of relationships in heaven.
